Tanned in Sun
One of my absolute favorite places to take photos is in Perrone Village. If you know me I spend a lot of time taking headshots especially in Perrone. I love the bridge, the greenery and the little waterfall in the middle. The birds are always loud and it’s a quiet little area even when the cafe at the back is busy. It’s really an area that you can be very creative in without only using the bridge for your photos. So when I told Ash Perrone was the location he was not surprised as he had already coined it mine.
We spent the afternoon chatting and talking about life and social trends, the state of Barbados and everything under the sun like we always do. He takes life a little more serious than most and he does not play about his financial planning. He’s really not the friend you just randomly ask out just because unless it’s summer and even then he’s very particular with the events he gives his money to. Before these photos we really had not seen each other in awhile so even after the photos we spent time liming and holding space for each other.
One of my favourite things about Ash is how he makes time for his personal time. As a computer Wiz he sits behind a desk by day but on the weekends you can find him on his routine Hike with the Barbados Hiking association. A hike that begins at 6AM which he rarely misses unless he can’t help it.
There’s something special about waking up early on a Sunday, lacing up your boots, and heading out to the trail. The fresh air, open skies, and winding paths give your eyes a break from screens and your mind a chance to slow down. With each step, the noise of the week fades, replaced by the simple rhythm of being outdoors. And after a while, the trail starts to feel like its own little community familiar faces you see every Sunday, quick greetings, shared smiles all part of the routine that makes the hike even more grounding.
